In a small farming community in 1950s Germany an entire household, including two children, is brutally murdered. The local residents refuse to believe that such an horrendous crime could have been committed by one of their own.
What struck me about this novel is the fact that it is based on an actual unsolved mystery. Schenkel changed names and the setting, but most of the details are the same. Her novel offers a viable theory as to what might actually have happened. The story is told through interviews with locals, interspersed with chilling flashbacks.
Very disturbing, but worth the read.

This book came through the Bookdealers at The Colony on Jan Smuts and shall make it's journey onwards from there.
Interesting Crime/Thriller fiction based on actual events. Has all the elements of a good book in it's genre and keeps you both enthralled and disturbed while keeping the story going through interviews with residents and the scene itself.
If you enjoy books of this type it is definitely worth the read.
