From the book jacket..."As the story opens, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned unexpectedly to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol Building. Within minutes of his arrival, however, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object--artfully encoded with five symbols--is discovered in the Capitol Building. Langdon recognizes the object as an ancient invitation...one meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of esoteric wisdom.
When Langdon's beloved mentor, Peter Solomon--a prominent Mason and philanthropist--is brutally kidnapped, Langdon realizes his only hope of saving Peter is to accept this mystical invitation and follow wherever it leads him. Langdon is instantly plunged into a clandestine world of Masonic secrets, hidden history, and never-before-seen locations--all of which seem to be dragging him toward a single, inconceivable truth."

Brown does not disappoint with this newest thriller with symbologist, Robert Langdon. The book was a little slow going for me in the beginning with all the detailed explanations of Noetic Science, Washington DC landmarks, etc. It didn't take long for me to be drawn into the story. I can see this book turned into another blockbuster movie.

This was my first experience with Dan Brown. I can see why he is a popular author. This novel starts off running and never slows down. There is action every step of the way and hints are sprinkled throughout the book as to what will happen later. For those paying attention, those hint aren't very subtle and there won't be any surprises later. Brown's characters are often taken to a point of something dangerous/scary/life changing is just about to happen and at the very last possible second someone thinks of something/a phone rings/another character arrives on the scene and saves the day. This formula of story telling works well for Brown.

I enjoyed this book, all the twists and turns and non-stop action. I was fascinated by the descriptions of Noetic science and the Masons. So much packed into such a short time frame. I totally agree that it would make a great movie.

I'm a slacker on journaling, and actually mailed it out on the 7th to svoight. The tracking number is 9102 1288 8230 0006 3611 65.

I finished the book this morning but have to say it is not my favorite of Dan Brown books. I felt the first part of the book started slowly and it was approx 100 pages before it started moving along. I kept reading it but really never enjoyed it. I didn't like reading about the Noetic science and found myself trying to skip over all of that. I hope other readers enjoy it more that I did.

It will be off to the next reader shortly.
