Hooray, I finally made it through this book!
I really struggled with this one. I was so wanting to read it, given its inclusion on the 1001 books list, the fact that it won the Booker Prize, and that the author is so highly regarded. I loved the idea of the book, but on the whole I didn't warm to the story overall :<
The writing was flowing, the story elements meshed beautifully and it was obvious that the author had meticulously researched the era. I loved the idea that the two poets had a secret other life, and that little clues could be seen in their respective poems. Loved how the story was interspersed with their poems and letters to each other. The flipping back and forth between the past with Randolph & Christabel and Roland & Maud in the present was very well done as well.
I hope that one day I will re-read this and like it a bit more, I feel really a bit sad that I didn't love it. It has also been made into a movie with Gwyneth Paltrow, so I will seek that out to watch as well.
