Das war schon lange fällig: Ein Rundgang durch meine Regale, um das BookCrossing-Potential auszuloten! Selbst die letzten beiden Umzüge 2005 und 2007 hatten das noch nicht ausgereizt... da schlummerte schon länger noch ein Mix aus "lese ich wohl nicht noch einmal" und "lese ich nicht mehr – bin im Laufe der Zeit vom Thema abgekommen".
Das war wohl das berühmte Zitat in "Der Club der toten Dichter" ("... das Mark des Lebens auszusaugen..."), welches mich neugierig auf den kompletten Text gemacht hat. Den fand ich dann allerdings reichlich unverdaulich. Das Buch blieb dennoch bei mir, denn da ich einige Titel aus der kleinen Könemann-Reihe besitze, konnte es gut untertauchen... bis heute!
Wird vielleicht ein Telefonzellen-Buch, vielleicht aber auch woanders unterkommen – mal sehen.
Most probably it was due to the famous quote in "Dead Poets' Society" ("... to suck the marrow out of life...") that I bought this book. I found it quite hard to chew on, though, but it took shelter among some other titles of the same edition and thus stayed at my shelves for a long time – until today.
Might become yet another phone book release!

Looking for new readers at tonight's meet-up. :-)
Picked it up at tonight's meetup. And again it has been proven: If you should read a boook, it will come to you. I had this book at the back of my mind for a while and once and again read a reference to it somewhere and always thought: "I should look out for this book." And here it is! Thanks satay, for pointing it out to me.
Finally ploughed my way through in little installments on the tube to and from work. I found it a bit hard going as it is very technical in its description. I had hoped for more insight into the author's thoughts and feelings. But very interesting that already in the 19th century (some) people had the desire to escape the rat race...
Will be sent to CatharinaL in Finland as my November RABCK.
