Journal Entry 2 by bethieb from Hopkinsville, Kentucky USA on Thursday, November 05, 2009
I'm a bit of a sucker for stories about the homefront during WWII, and this one didn't disappointment me...much. I liked the characters and would have liked it better if the book had continued instead of wrapping up in the manner which it did. I'm passing it on now, wrapped in holiday paper, to fullfill a wish.

Journal Entry 5 by collectorkerri at Springfield, Illinois USA on Wednesday, September 29, 2010
I really enjoyed this tale of WWII Chicago and how the people who stayed behind dealt with the war. Like bethieb, I was disappointed in the abruptness of the ending and would have liked a little more detail about how the characters ended up where they did, but all in all, it was a satisfying book. Strangely enough, this was the second Secret Santa book I've read in a row recently. For now the book is available. Since it has an interesting first sentence, if it's still around when my First Sentences Virtual Bookbox list comes back to me, I may save it for that purpose.
