OMGoodness! What a wonderful surprise - I love books set in Italy!!! :)
January 2010
This book was a culinary delight (I found the food-sex analogies to be very interesting!) The cooking and the food was so wonderfully described that my mouth was literally watering. As someone who's ancestry is Napolitano, and who recently visited this part of Italy, I relished in the cultural details of the land and the people. Both of Livia's romances were captivating too. The book was a bit heavy on politics (I prefer romances to war novels), but all-in-all it was an enjoyable read.

Arrived safely today! Thank you, Valentina1209, for filling one of my wishes. Being Italian, I love books set in Italy ... a place I hope to visit someday. It looks like a wonderful story and I am looking forward to it! (Putting toward the top of the pile.)
What a wonderful story! I really enjoyed reading about Livia. My mouth was watering about some of the food descriptions...wishing I could cook that way...until its done. I enjoyed reading about Livia's life during this war and the life, love, struggles she went through. While I am not a huge fan of a book which holds alot of war and politics, I think this one gave enough so the reader could understand the timeframe and state of mind of the people involved. I think while it was a tad long, I don't think it could have been written much differently. It was an enjoyable read and I am looking forward to reading some more JEs on this story.
This book is beginning is BookCrossing journey as a RABCK to NMReader. Enjoy!
