What an interesting book! First I didn't like it that much, but it gets more and more complex. Great descriptions of the London Bengali immigrant community, of family life in a different culture, the protagonist Nazneen's affair with a young radical. Interwoven with Nazneen's East End life is her sister's story, told in her letters, back in Bangladesh: a love marriage, domestic violence, life as a factory worker, as a prostitute, as a maid.
Recommendable!!!

Thanks, ApoloniaX. Another one of your books for my TBR!
How funny that this arrived almost a week after the other book you mailed on the same day. The postal system is mysterious, isn't it?
