I found this book quite entertaining:) The "AHEB bookclub" read some interesting books. A few I may read on their recommendation:)
Thank you so much for sending this book (signed by the author!) along with the "Girl with a Pearl Earring" CDs. I love the label inside--it looks very familiar!
This was, as wamstreet said, quite an entertaining book about a group of women who bond over their love of books. It follows them from the late 1960s through the late 1990s and touches on how the events of the time impact their marriages, children, work, and friendships. Each chapter is told from a different character's point of view—sometimes in first person, sometimes in third—and features the book they are reading and why it was chosen (or sometimes, what was served). The books, themselves, may not have much to do with the story that's being told in that particular chapter, but the titles and reasons often foreshadow what's about to unfold.
I wish wamstreet could know how much I enjoyed this surprise; sadly, she passed away earlier this year.

Passed along to my mother for her and her bookclub friends to enjoy.
Got this back from Mom the other day after her book club meeting. It was her turn to host and she chose this book. According to her, all the ladies really liked it; many felt it was like a trip down memory lane. Two things in particular that struck them were the proliferation of alcohol and smoking, so Mom served virgin Bloody Marys, sparkling grape juice, and gave boxes of candy cigarettes as party favors. It was smashing.
The Angry Housewives are ready to travel again. Where will their next stop take them?

Passing along to Sister No. 3 to read. I think she'll like it.
