suggested by a dear friend. Will read and see.
Thank you so much, maskaar, for sending me this wishlist book as a prize for winning your RABCK contest, and thank you also for the other two books that you sent to me, ("Oryx and Crake" by Margaret Atwood and "All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten" by Robert Fulghum). I am looking forward to reading all three books. Thanks also for the bookcrossing bookmark that you enclosed. This was very generous of you.
Amazon Editorial Review:
My Heart Is Afraid that it will have to suffer," the boy told the alchemist one night as they looked up at the moonless sky."Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams."
Every few decades a book is published that changes the lives of its readers forever. The Alchemist is such a book. With over a million and a half copies sold around the world, The Alchemist has already established itself as a modern classic, universally admired. Paulo Coelho's charming fable, now available in English for the first time, will enchant and inspire an even wider audience of readers for generations to come.
The Alchemist is the magical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure as extravagant as any ever found. From his home in Spain he journeys to the markets of Tangiers and across the Egyptian desert to a fateful encounter with the alchemist.
The story of the treasures Santiago finds along the way teaches us, as only a few stories have done, about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, above all, following our dreams.

Journal Entry 6 by Releanna from Wien Bezirk 23 - Liesing, Wien Austria on Monday, February 15, 2010
thank you, chamonix44 :)
well, I wasn't so impressed. It is a nice enough story, a bit of a fairy-tale, and there are some spritual wisdoms in it, but nothing that hasn't been said already in lots of other books.
And what turned me off a bit was that I read out of the book that only men (in the sense of male) can achieve their dreams, travel and find and live their personal legend. The role of the females is to stay at home and wait for their men. Not very inspiring for me!

this book is now going to Oliviapoolside
Another recognizable 1st sentence from a book that had been offered in Kalman's BD VBB. Thanks, I will read it and use it to seed next year's box.
It is a myth, a fable, full of insights that I no longer remember. I think I should have liked this book, but I was not enthusiastic. We have the idea of finding your personal legend or purpose or job in this life. We have the idea of listening to your heart and paying attention to omens. We have the idea of all things being written by one hand and tapping into the universal language of the world. All very good and religious ideas. The idea that "It is written".
A Spanish boy travels to Africa to find his personal legend and to find the treasure that is his to find, near the pyramids he has been told. He has adventures along the way such as getting robbed, making a success of a business, traveling across the desert in a camel caravan, being in danger of his life several times, meeting The Alchemist, getting beat up, falling in love and finding what what he seeks.

Book received! Thanks so much BooksandMusic!
This book was underwhelming. Perhaps I expected too much from it, since I had read some pretty glowing reviews, and it was recommended to me. I originally gave it three stars, but after thinking about it for a couple days I downgraded to two. The writing was a bit preachy, the story itself too simple. The end was not what I was expecting, which sometimes is a good thing, but I don't believe that to be the case here.
Mailed off to Crossing-Guard. Hope you enjoy! Maybe more than I did? :)
This book arrived in the mail today, thank you so much for thinking of me. Getting exciting book mail just made my day!
Adding this to my TBR pile.

This was a fantastic book, one that I wish I read years ago. Really an easy read that I enjoyed.
I am adding this one into the Calgary BookCrossing Book Box #2. Hopefully it will find a new reader to enjoy it.
This one is back with me. It looks like many of my fellow BookCrossers have read this one. I will put it in a little free library in hopes that someone will find it.
