While I enjoyed this book, I guess it just didn't live up to my expectations. Nonetheless, a good read and worthwhile. :)

Read last evening - enjoyed the Off-off broadway setting. I have a friend who was in theater for a while in NYC and these characters seem to be much like some he worked with. Sending on to the next one in the bookray....

I joined this bookray (something I never do) because I was intrigued by the book's title. I guessed it was about someone in a stale relationship- you know how you get to that point where it's over but you haven't ended it yet, and you're planning your grocery list during the act? Anyway, the book arrived and it has this horrible cover that makes it look like a total bimbo chick book. ("Sometimes finding great sex in the city is a no-brainer..." what the hell is that about? It doesn't fit with the story at all.) Upon reading it, the book turned out to be a little fluffy, but not nearly as bad as the cover implied.

So, first I expected it to be deep, then I expected it to be very shallow, and it ended up being somewhere in-between. Apparently, you can't judge a book by its cover OR its title.

I'll send this off to sherria tomorrow.

I still can't decide if I liked this book or not. It was a quick easy read, but I guess I expected more of it. It tackled what could have been big issues but treated them in a fluffy manner. I'm glad I read it, but it won't have me rushing out to read more of this author's books.

Sending it to the next participant JPandJo. Her bookshelf says she's on vacation til 8/10, so it should be there when she gets home.

At first I thought oh cool a book with a reasonable female, then the story started and I cringed at what she was doing. I guess I have trouble understanding all the insecurities, but byt he end I was really proud of the character and actually liked the book.

Honestly I thought I was going to be writting a very poor review if you asked on page 100. But I finished this with a smile on my face. I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

Mailed to Wandaca via Air.

I'm not too sure what to think of the book...I really liked some parts and then others made me want to throw the book -- which I didn't, I don't abuse books :-).
Overall it was a good read, and I will recommend it my friends.
Thanks for sharing kayters.....

This book just arrived in the mail and the timing couldn't be more perfect! Hosted a huge family reunion here on Saturday (9/20) and just waved off the last of our guests about 15 minutes ago. I'm exhausted -- I'm going to sit and read!

OK, first of all, I know that sex sells, and that any self-respecting publisher is going to do their best to sell their books, but this was ridiculous. The cover copy had very little to do with the book. Made it look like an x-rated romp with a sex queen. What we got was a PG-rated stroll with an insecure near-virgin. Not that that's bad -- I just wish they hadn't puffed it like they did.

I got a little impatient with our heroine sometimes. If I knew someone like her, I'd probably avoid her. But she seems to do a reasonably good job of keeping her insecurities to herself, or at least just between us, her readers. And, I must admit, I enjoyed seeing her begin to stand up for herself and get over her own private hurdles by the end of the book.

I was also vaguely troubled by the fact that she's dealing with some pretty serious stuff, but the author treats it very lightly. Am I the only one who thinks Jennifer could benefit from therapy? Seriously.

But, all that said, I liked it. It was a fun book and a quick read and I'm glad I read it. And I'm glad it had a happy ending -- the final scenes are very sweet, awkwardly done but appropriate for the character. You know, kind of awkward-on-purpose.

My sister is an actress in New York City, so it was neat to get a glimpse of the theater world. I kept wanting to call her and ask, "Have you ever heard of this deli," or "Does this theater really exist?"

My apologies to all the participants, especially those who are after me in line, for having it so long. Like I said to Kayters, I fell into a funk and couldn't get up. But I'm putting the book in an envelope Right Now, and it will be on its way to the next person tomorrow. Hope you enjoy it!

Finished the book today and I must admit that I enjoyed the nice, quick, kind of fluffy read. I had no real expections for the book. I thought it was a good first novel. I love to attend Broadway shows and thought that it was interesting to kind of "read behind the scenes" even if it is fictional.

6/11/04 Book must be taking an inordinate amount of time to arrive with FLY46. Hope it gets there soon. :-)

Read this one while my mom was waiting for the address of the next person on the bookring list. Did he really have to "do it with her!" ugh. Nice fast read.

Sent to FLY46! Enjoy!

Journal Entry 21 by lostbookisland on Wednesday, February 07, 2007

This book has not been rated.

This book has washed ashore at the Lost Book Island after not being heard from for many months. This new arrival will be shown to a room and be allowed a bit of rest before being introduced to the many fun things to do here at the island.

All around there are books sipping cool drinks under shady palms while other books participate in a wide variety of beach sports. There is plenty of sand, surf and sun here for all of the lost and wayward books to enjoy.

It is hoped that very soon a new journal entry will come to rescue this book from the island and send it back out into the BookCrossing world so that it may continue on its journey. It is hoped that the new journal entry will tell all the interested parties where this book has been this long time and where it will be traveling to next.
