When Daniel Stone was a child, he was the only white boy in a native Eskimo village where his mother taught, and he was teased mercilessly because he was different. He fought back, the baddest of the bad kids: stealing, drinking, robbing and cheating his way out of the Alaskan bush – where he honed his artistic talent, fell in love with a girl and got her pregnant. To become part of a family, he reinvented himself – jettisoning all that anger to become a docile, devoted husband and father. Fifteen years later, when we meet Daniel again, he is a comic book artist. His wife teaches Dante’s Inferno at a local college; his daughter, Trixie, is the light of his life – and a girl who only knows her father as the even-tempered, mild-mannered man he has been her whole life. Until, that is, she is date raped…and Daniel finds himself struggling, again, with a powerlessness and a rage that may not just swallow him whole, but destroy his family and his future.
I enjoyed this book but I was really disapointed with the ending of the book. I felt let down with the way the story ended and the truth.

Not great. It was good in the sense that it kept my attention and I wanted to keep reading, but it's definitely my least favourite Picoult book. I felt the plot got a tad ridiculous in places, and unbelievable in others, and I didn't care about any of the characters. Glad this wasn't my introduction to Picoult, otherwise I may not be inclined to go on to others, which are so much better.
Hopefully sending it off soon as a trade/RABCK.

I know this was a really good book, but it annoyed me at times, and it's probably for older readers, I would like to turn back to this book in a few years time, I just don't have the time to read it properly (well... I did read it properly, but you know what I mean!)
Shall send onto the next person as soon as I can!

I got this book in the mail last Wednesday. I could not journal it before, because my computer is not up and running yet after a move. I finished the book in a few days and will send it on to the next person of the book ray tomorrow or Tuesday.
The story was really captivating and liked the change in narrating perspective. The comics were very different but too dark to my taste. The story was interesting. It actually reminded me of a court case which I had visited as a legal intern in the States some years ago.

I found 'The Tenth Cirlce' a really good book, with alot of twists and turns. I have to say, I love the way Jodi writes, I have read a few of her books and they never seem to fail me :) I will be looking out for more of her books now after reading this one. Thankyou so much for releasing this as a bookring and for giving me a chance to read it :)
I sent this book on its way to kihli this morning :) Happy reading x

I liked the book. Definitely not the best of Picoult, but good anyway. A girl,a rape ,her parents and their past and present. Dante's Inferno is present everywhere. Interesting thoughts as usual.
I'll post it to the next person as soon as I have the address.

It arrived today. I have a few books in front of it but will get it moving as fast as I can.
I thought a status update for this book might be appreciated.
I plan to start this book tonight or tomorrow at the latest. I will try to read quickly.
The best laid plans of mice and men do often go astray - I didn't start this book until last night. I hope to read a great deal during the October Readathon. Perhaps that will help me finish this book quickly.

Quite a few surprises in the book but quite an interesting plot line.
I couldn't help but feel for Daniel.

Got this in the mail while I was outta town and journaling it now. Received! Gonna start on it this afternoon!
Picoult does it again!
She created a story with twists and turn that draws you into the lives of her characters. The story got deeper and richer as it went along. Being a fan of graphic novels and comics, I also enjoyed the use of Daniel's graphic book illustrations as a tool to tell the emotional turmoil of the characters.
Thanks for letting me be a part of the bookring.

Have a nice week for all you!
It's here! It was delivered to a neighbour of mine since I wasn't home, but now it is safe and sound with me. Mt. TBR is quite big at the moment, but I'll try to be quick.
I've read this quite a while back already, but haven't gotten around to making my JE.
Unfortunately this book didn't seem to catch me as other Picoult books have done in the past. The brilliant writing style is there and it definitely has the Jodi Picoult feel to it, but I just didn't like it as much as some of the other books I've read of hers. I do give it some extra points for the setting; I loved to read about Alaska and how life goes on there, it's such a different way of life from the one I'm used too. All in all, it was an ok book. Not too good, but not that bad either.
I will be releasing it soon as a BRay, maybe in a month or too. For now I'll leave it to rest a bit, but it will travel again :) Thanks for sharing!

1. When you receive book, please make a journal entry.
2. PM the next person on the list for their address.
3. After you read the book, tell us what you thought of it.
4. When you mail the book, make another journal entry to let us know.
5. I'll set the reading deadline as 2 months; I know what it feels like to have a huge Mount TBR and the struggle one does to keep up with the deadlines, so I'll be flexible here. If you are having trouble and need to keep it for a little longer, that's cool: just PM me or make a JE so that we can know it hasn't been forgotten.
6. If you're the last person on the list, you're free to keep it, continue the Bookray, start a Bookring... it's up to you!
