Creepy! Disturbing! Profound! I read it in a freshman class called "The Supernatural in the Short Story and Novel" years ago... I've read it many times since.

I bought this copy used: it's written in and underlined throughout. But read it anyway. It's worth it. An early feminist classic!

I just picked up a package at the P.O. with more than I asked for in it ;)

What is a "male chauvinist pig" doing with a Feminist Press book. I call it a RABCK! It isn't too far off topic because I married a feminist (before the term was coined) and she has been 'educating' me ever since.

I'm less of a pig and appreciate her more. Paging through the book I see it does hit on some of the things my wife has had to deal with also-health and professionals who didn't listen.

I'm looking forward to this read and will certainly keep it moving along because I think some of the ideas need to resurface in others lives.

Impressive!

How far have we come since the book was written? (1890's). While undoubtedly there has been progress on the big picture, how is it in "your house"? I have to admit some of what drove his character mad is the same sort of thing that prevailed in the 1970's when I got married.

After 30 years of marriage and not quite 20/20 vision on looking back on it, there is still too much controlling on the men's side, and some willingness to be controlled on the women's side. Blame it on society to be sure, but *we* are society, no?

Young, impressionable women *and* men should visit this book to help avoid the trap. It is a very quick read - and a profound one.

Well, I've already read it several times and enjoyed quite a lot (maybe a bit too short). At a superficial level it can be read as a good horror story too (...now I have all those vivid images in my head about people creeping around...*grin*)
This book will be travelling back to USA tomorrow, as a RABCK to Amynsperry. Enjoy!

Pienso que voy a gustar esta libro si esta como el otro libro de ella: Herland. Gracias por mandarmelo. Voy a escribir mas despues de leer.

I think that I am going to like this book if it is anything like her other book: Herland. Thank you for sending it to me. I'll write more after I read it.

I think I'll have to let this book grow on me. Of course it's feminist Charlotte Perkins that wrote this, so there's more to the story than meets the eye. Do the patterns in the wallpaper of her new home come alive or is she just going crazy? And how exactly does the story end? The author leaves the ending up to your imagination, but all the same, it's still disturbing.
