Synopsis (amazon):
Product Description
Kirk and McCoy accompany Spock to the Vulcan Academy Hospital, seeking experimental treatment for a badly wounded EnterpriseTM crew member. Spock's mother is also a patient in the hospital, and Kirk soon becomes involved in the complex drama of Spock's family.
Suddenly, patients are dying, and Kirk suspects the unthinkable -- murder on Vulcan. Kirk has to convince the Vulcans that something as illogical as murder is possible. Until the killer is caught, everyone is in danger.

7 out of 10

The story is not the best one, I have ever read about Captain Kirk, Spock and Bones. Also the cover picture is misleading. Even if the location is Vulcan, Spock is not going to fight against Le-matya, but Kirk is. Therefore I would have preferred to see handsome Kirk instead of Spock on the cover...
The story is a little bit naive and harmless. From the very beginning it is clear, who must be the murderer - even if the reasoning behind is not really clear.
Even illogic humans are not always thinking this way... (I do not elaborate more on the murderer for the next readers...)

I doubt, that Vulcans would refer to "outworlders" when meaning someone who is not Vulcan. I would assume, that they would call those "outvulcans", as world is more an earthy description.
Besides that I liked the story and I could imagine my childhood heroes acting unselfish and highly intelligent again.
