I read this as part of a bookray. I found this copy at a used book store for 35 cents, so I picked it up. Maybe I can fulfill someone's wish for it.

The mysterious death of an eccentric millionaire brings together an unlikely assortment of heirs who must uncover the circumstances of his death before they can claim their inheritance.

The good news is: "It's here, it's here, it's here!" The bad news is that I'm about to disappear for a little over a week on a business trip/class/vacation. I'm busy debating whether to bring it with me on the trip (had promised to only take release-able books) or to wait and leap upon it when I get back.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... (It's a nice problem, and a good start for the mystery of the Westing Game, right?)

****
Did not take on trip, but did enjoy it very well. A few of the clues eluded me... I liked the way that people were more, and less, than they appeared at first. Some of the plot twists were very intriguing. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy this book.

I've got it! It's funny, when Sissyrun announced this bookray, I had been trying to think of the name of this book. I had read it both in elementary school and as a teenager and I can never completely remember the ending. I read a great deal as a child and teenager and for this book to stick so strongly in my memory is a sign (to me at least) that it is something special.
I look foward to reading it again.

I was worried that I'd read it and this book and be disappointed, but thankfully I found it as entertaining as I did when I first read it. The clues jumped out at me (I do remember the solution, just not the ending), and it was nice to read a mystery that the reader could really solve on her own. Many mysteries (it seems to me, at least) end up involving elements that the reader couldn't possibly have known. But you get all the clues, and the determined reader could probably put down the book and figure it all out if desired. I guess part of the reason I enjoyed this so much is that the characters reactions to the extreme circumstances seem understandable and reasonably realistic (though the final ending with what happened to the characters reminded me that this was a childrens book). There are some darker elements to the story that surprised me, and I think they went a bit over my head when I was younger, or maybe I just forgot.
I'll have to get a copy for my daughter when she's old enough, at least now I'll have the name of the book on my bookshelf where I'll never forget it.
I'll be shipping tomorrow, hopefully.

I guess that I didnt realize that this was a childrens book until my daughter told me that they sell it a lot in the third and fourth grade level catalog!! I thought that it was a little simplistic, but an interesting and quick read anyway. It was a little hard to follow in places, a little boring in others. Thanks for passing this around!!

It took me a while to picture who everyone was in this book because the descriptions of the characters were very vague which meant I missed a lot of the nuances and clues early on in the story. About half way through I was making some of the deductions but not knowing the words to the verses as I not an American was a bit of a hinderance. However, I am obvious not as bright as Turtle because there was much I did fail to pick up. An entertaining read.

I must say I was a little disappointed with this book. But then I have a problem with too many characters in any book - I find it hard to keep track of the different people, and get easily confused :-(
Still, quite enjoyable. I part-guessed some of it, but then I wasn't deliberately trying to work out the solution.
Thanks for sharing this book :-)

Couldn't really get into this book at all ... I'm afraid I sort of read it in bits and pieces, sort of a page here and another page there, and only because I can't leave a book unfinished. Also I got confused with all the characters and different clues, I guess it was just too much information for me at this time :-)
Thanks Sissyrun for the opportunity to read this !
The book will be mailed to starbytes this week.

Thanks, tho!! Received this book safe and sound!! Will journal again as soon as I finish it!

Update 28th February 2004: Oh, this was such a fun read!! The book was really quite interesting, and the whole mystery thing was intriguing. I love the way it ended!! I didn't really get the clues though, as I didn't know the song that it related to, but oh, seriously, what fun I had reading this!! LOL!! Especially since I read it during my exam week!! It was great having this book take my mind of the exams when I needed it!

Will pass it on to the next person on the ring soon!!

Clever mystery with an ending I didn´t expect at all! It was so much fun to read and of course I didn´t get any of the clues. I don´t really know what else to write without giving away too much of the story so do read it yourself and enjoy!

The book is already on its way to nikel27 - viel Spaß beim Lesen :-)

Been on the road interminably of late and not had computer access as frequently as I would have liked. This book was waiting for me a few weeks ago and I was unable to journal it. I am taking it with me today when I hit the road again and will read it between my journies... Looks like it will be a fun fast read.
