A wonderful book. Not an easy read, but it's a great account of what went on in that war we (here in The Netherlands) do not hear much about.
I have been in the trenches of Normandy earlier this year and that was impressive, creepy. To imagine that these young women worked in the hospitals and too supplies to the men fighting in the trenches in a war 30 years earlier, taking away the wounded and nurse them, with even less comfort, less medicine available...it really is amazing.
The writing started a movie in my head, which made it hard to read a lot at one time. But, I absolutely liked the story, one that really deserves to be told over and over again.
