According to Estes, there is a wild woman inside every woman. The Wild Woman has been tamed by mom, men, all aspects of society, but she survives. When allowed free, Wild Woman creates and sings and dances. Modern as well as ancient cultures have folk tales that feature Wild Women. Estes tells some of these tales, relating them to women of every culture and age. Her voice is soothing, sage, dreamy, relaxing. The cadence of the program is like a rocking chair. One can imagine being told these stories in the arms of a loving mother before falling into deep sleep.
