I have just finished this! I picked it out from my bookshelf, not as light relief, not in terms of its subject matter but its writing style, and indeed it was a lot quicker and easier to read than my recent 'journeys' into the desert. It tells a story that needed to be told. I did hear about nunneries keeping girls as near prisoners to run a laundry - is this the same story? Perhaps that was a film, I don't remember. Nothing surprises me about the Catholic Church... So many gruesome stories and this is a key to much heartache, cruelty and inhumane treatment. It hasn't in my opinion been written in the most eloquent or expressive of styles but that does not matter. I think I know who I'll pass this on to. Thank you again wibba! The book is now in Madrid!
