Jeff Winston, forty-three, didn't know he was a replayer until he died and woke up twenty-five years younger in his college dorm room; he lived another life. And died again. And lived again and died again -- in a continuous twenty-five-year cycle -- each time starting from scratch at the age of eighteen to reclaim lost loves, remedy past mistakes, or make a fortune in the stock market. A novel of gripping adventure, romance, and fascinating speculation on the nature of time, Replay asks the question: "What if you could live your life over again?"

* Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (under other rings/rays that arrived first)
* Read the book (take your time and enjoy the book, don't feel rushed to finish it but try to get it out to next reader within four weeks)
* When the end is in sight, check the book's journal and PM the next person to get their address
* Finish the book, make another journal entry and let everyone know what you thought of the book
* Send the book to the next person on the list.

Hint: Ask for the address of the next on the list before you have finished reading; sometimes it takes a while before you get a reply. Some people don't get PM's. You may want to look for an e-mail address on their profile, or leave an ISO message on the forum. If the person doesn't respond within 7-10 days (use your judgement), please PM the next person, and then me, so I can update the bookring list.

Got it in today's mail. Thanks very much hyper7 for organising the ring and sending the book all the way from South Africa. I'll read it as soon as I've finished the book I'm currently reading and pass it on to Karen.

Journal Entry 5 by MarcThomas from Paris, Ile-de-France France on Monday, August 24, 2009
I finished the book yesterday. I thought the idea of the book was quite original and interesting but I didn't really appreciate the way it was treated nor did I find the writing style particularly good. That's why I'm rating this book 5 out of 10.

PMing karen07814 for her address right away.

safely with me now, thank you very much. Will go on my "important ring and ray" TBR pile, which presently has one and a half books on it.

Journal Entry 10 by kiwiinengland from Dunedin, Otago New Zealand on Tuesday, October 6, 2009
The premise of this book was great, and the author made the unrealistic realistic by making Jeff do what you think people would when put in the situation of reliving your life....in one replay he made heaps of money, in another he married his college sweetheart, in another he whored and drugged his life away, then he was a recluse farmer at one with the land.

However I can only give this book five stars as the book is sexist. Jeff and Pamela are both replaying, have both had amazing experiences and knowledge and wisdom...yet the author insists that Pamela is insecure and must constaintly look to Jeff for reassurance (this especially comes out when they are staying at the beach house). The author (and Jeff) had a very shallow attitude to women. And the last line of the book shows that Jeff was a very selfish person, which was the personality trait he seemed to develope as the replays occurred.

I am pleased I read it. My friend I was travelling with when I read this would get a daily synopsis (including my annoyance at the sexist writing) and has decided to find a copy of the book to read for themselves.

NB: Second request for address of Raysacks sent 06/10/09. First request for address of Raysacks sent 22/09/09

Recieved- thanks for bearing with me KiwiinEngland!

Looking forward to enjoying what will be a great book!

[EDIT 26/11/09] An enjoyable read, original for its time, but now the concept has been over-done, both in print and film media.

have requested EasternGirl's address.

Sending off to Rrrcaron tomorrow!! Thanks for letting me borrow your book. I also appreciate that you let me hold on to it longer than some other BCer's have. I am going through a very difficult time right now and during the past few months. I am trying to rehab my knee since I got a knee replacement not long ago. My family, in Connecticut, have been having all sorts of problems. My brother needs to have his knee rebilt after a skiing accident and my stpe dad has been in and out of the hospital 3 times in one month. He first had a double heart bypass and then after he was home for three days he had blood seping into the pouch outside the lung, and went back into the hospital, and then after he had been home for three more days he ended up having to be sent to Yale where he has been for two and a half weeks and under gone multipal operations since he arrived back at Yale hospital. I really appreciate that you were understanding about my situation and working with me! I very much enjoyed reading this book!! It was very interesting how the two main characters were able to know when they were going to pass on, and seeing how they handled things through all of their replays!! Thanks again:)

I really enjoyed this book. The characters handled their replays well, and tried to do what was best. The ending through me a little, but now they have the right idea about living in the present. Talk about second chances, or third, or fourt, etc... lol. Sending on to next reader.

Arrived back safely in South Africa just in time for the world cup. Fist book I'm trying to log after the changes to the site - Here Goes!

Journal Entry 21 by mrbaggins1 at Johannesburg, Gauteng South Africa on Sunday, August 1, 2010
I'm sometimes weary of fantasy as it can become so far-out frayed at the edges that the plotline becomes lost in the weird. "Replay" was for me a very though provoking and moving book. The characters were well drawn and believable. Love, love lost, regret, trying to do it better, the chance to do it better and basically failing in some way again. All part of the human condition, even in a single lifetime. I was quite amused by KiwiinEngland's remark that the book is sexist. Goodness greatness - this is fantasy, and I'm wondering if Grimwood ever gave the idea of sexism a second thought when he outlined Pam's character. Thanks for sharing Johann. I'll post it back to you soon - it's done with its travels.
