There are lots of reasons to raise the dead - some private, some public. In this case, the feds have a witness who died before he could speak on the record. They want him raised so his testimony can be taken. So here I am, on a plane to Philadelphia, flying off to do my job.

But I’m not alone. Micah is with me. Micah, head of the St. Louis wereleopard pard. King to my Queen. The only one of my lovers who can stir my blood with just a glance from his chartreuse cat’s eyes. I was happy to have him at my side.

Until he mentioned that this will be our first time alone together. No Master Vampire. No Alpha Werewolf. Just me and Micah. And all my fears and doubts...

I originally read this book in a bookring organised by Morgaine77. Here's a link to the bookring copy.

Copy of my review, written on Wednesday, July 08, 2009:
Just when I complained about Incubus Dreams, Micah comes along and fixes the things that were bothering me. :) The story begins a lot like Bloody Bones, with Anita traveling to raise a zombie. It's a short story, and the plot is coherent and balanced, which is nice. I was especially pleased with the sex scene. Laurell K. Hamilton is still not my favorite erotica writer, but after Incubus Dreams, it was great to finally see Anita have sex because she wants to, and not because she needs to feed the ardeur. Also, I did not mind one bit that there was a whole chapter devoted to Micah pleasing Anita with his mouth. ;) Best of all, finally a book where Anita is not guilt-wrecked over having sex! Alas, what little I know of the next book, Danse Macabre, the old problems will be back...

I'm glad I had the chance to read Micah, it was a quick and entertaining read, without the usual problems that bother me in the Anita Blake books.

Snarky synopsis / review / rant of Micah
