Spotted this at a library sale I was able to catch today during my errands. I had added this to my wishlist after reading a blurb in a magazine. A memoir with some fun...an interesting story. Click the globe for a book description.

The term “Round-Heeled Woman” once referred to a woman of extremely loose moral values, perhaps a prostitute. Certainly, a catchy title for this memoir of a woman, who at age 67, finally lets herself loose to explore her late-life adventures in romance and sex.

I am often hesitant to voice an opinion on a memoir because I feel like it is judging someone’s life. I cannot do that. Ya know, the whole – throwing the first stone and all that. But I find nothing, absolutely nothing to judge here. I’m sure some will, but this is my opinion and my journal entry. ;P

After a marriage and divorce, being a single mom raising a son, teaching, volunteering teaching at a prison – I think this woman has earned the right to explore her sexuality and enjoy life. It was stalled way too long!

This author writes a lovely sentence, a wonderful story and I hope that I will see more written by this author on the shelves of my bookstore.

The more I read, the more I admired Jane Juska, the author. She's an amazingly strong woman, brave enough to be honest about her life, and a good enough writer to tell everything in an absorbingly interesting style. My favorite chapter was the one about San Quentin, volunteering as a teacher. She must have been one heckuva great teacher!

I agree with dvg that there is nothing here for anyone to judge. Rather, here is a challenge and encouragement for each of us to get to know ourselves and take responsibility for our lives and choices. Inspiring! Thank you, dvg, for sharing this excellent book.

Okay, I've got to admit that I'll probably get around to reading this rather soon, it's in the category of "guilty pleasures" (along the lines of admitting that I enjoy the hell out of the musical "Grease" even though it's fluff). Let the record state: there's nothing wrong with a heterosexual male saying he really digs this kind of stuff........
