From the back:

"She ran into his arms gasping and sobbing together. Their first moments of reunion, of bliss, were too rapturous and choking for words. Deep in their hearts each had believed the other dead or, worse still, sold into slavery. But now...

Bitter feud, murder and revenge, passion and tenderness, justice and a dash of the supernatural are among the ingredients of a dozen skillfully varied stories, some set in Africa, some in Europe.

R. Sarif Easmon is a doctor in Freetown, Sierra Leone."

As always with short story collections, some stories were better and/or more interesting than others, but all in all this was a very enjoyable reading experience indeed. I quite liked Easmon's style of writing, it was very easy to read. The only thing that really grated on me was the way homosexuality was portrayed as a character flaw and, it seemed, equated with paedophilia, in one of the stories. I do know, though, that homosexuality is still a taboo in Africa and that has probably influenced the writer's attitude, too, even though he is a doctor.
