Journal Entry 1 by Tintti from Jyväskylä, Keski-Suomi Finland on Tuesday, June 30, 2009
Back cover: For girls who care about global warming, and next season's hot looks, Green is the New Black is a must-have accessory. From the truth about fast fashion to the best biodegradable shoes, from guilt-free spending sprees to the joys of swishing parties, this is the chicest, greenest survival manual around. If you want to change the world, and your wardrobe, don't go shopping without it! I'm far from shop-a-holic and never had much interest for fashion or luxury items. That is why I every now and then felt that I'm not quite the right audience for this book. Still, it is a good starting point for someone who really likes shopping but would like to do it responsibly. There are loads of tips of shops and brands that are "green", or at least greener than others, and also some advice to making one's own clothes, buying used or vintage stuff, and recycling. Even bookcrossing is mentioned (see page 180)! I would have liked the book to be a bit more thorough and going deeper into things instead of just listing shops and websites, but anyway I'm happy that this kind of book exists. I hope that being green is not just a passing trend.

Thank you Tintti! This book looks interesting, although I don't follow trends very much or buy anything expensive too often. :)

Journal Entry 3 by Savotar from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi Finland on Wednesday, January 20, 2010
I'm glad there is a book like this available, it's good read for those who are really into clothes and fashion and want to be more environmentally friendly. It's a bit depressing though to read how everything (even cotton shopping bags) kills our planet one way or another. Unfortunately the book didn't offer any good tips for someone like me. Using ketchup, tea or vodka to dye my hair isn't an option really and neither is making underwear from old t-shirts. - Seriously...
