A very easy read and quite cute with lots of ideas on going green. Some were easy and obvious and others were quite radical (living without a fridge for 8 months? WOW!).

I read it in one evening and now I think I'll see if anyone wants it as a bookring.

From the back:
"No one likes listening to smug hippies brag about how they don't use toilet paper or lecture about the evils of plastic bags and SUVs. But most of us do want to lessen our ecological footprints. With this in mind, Vanessa Farquharson takes on the intense personal challenge of making one green change to her lifestyle every day for a year, to find out what's doable and what's too hardcore."

Interested in the bookring? PM me!

It's my biggest ring! Wow! I'm so excited to see so much interest. Thanks for participating!

As per usual, please journal when you get the book so that we know that it arrived safely, read the book within a month, journal your thoughts about the book (this to me is the most important part!), PM the next person for the address and send it on its way. You can journal that too so that we know that it's moving.

If you need to keep it longer than a month, please PM me to let me know. It should be a quick read though as it only took me one evening to finish it.

Wow, what a great book full of lots of wonderful ideas. I agree that some of them are a bit too hard core for me but I am planning to implement many of them in the next little bit, if I haven't already. My worms are on there way (something that I have been meaning to do for a very long time), I am trying to use my car less (yeah for the nice weather) and purchasing organic where I can. It was very interesting to note though that it was little changes that she found the hardest to keep up whereas the big ones were not as hard. I think the larger changes made her change the way she thought about things and as a result made it easier to maintain. For example living without a fridge sounds really hard but after examining the contents of my fridge I came to the conclusion that really I would be fine with a tiny bar fridge to hold my milk, mayo and cheese. I don't need something that big. I had never considered this before as I have grown up with a fridge and don't know anyone without one. I guess we need to start looking around and seeing if we truly need it. I could certainly live without a fridge but the freezer is another story! The book was also great as it reinforced why I am a vegetarian, bring my own shopping bags and grow my own veggies on my balcony. I have also started to follow Vanessa's blog. Let's all do our part to green the world!

I finished this faster than I intended so will request the next address now.

Journal Entry 8 by amidabutsu from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada on Thursday, November 26, 2009
i quite enjoyed it. interestingly, i heard the author speak on the radio shortly after, with this guy from new york, no impact man, which she had mentioned in her book.
lots of VERY obvious idea, lots of less obvious idea.

i've been sleeping green for years!

Received today, thanks!

I was disappointed with this book. I found it full of fluff, a lot of the goals she decided to expand upon didn't delve into anything except what she did. I found that numerous times I wanted to know more! I wanted to know how she felt about cloth menstrual pads, I wanted to know how the natural shaving cream worked for her, etc etc. It just seemed she wrote that she was going to do something and then didn't explain anything other than "I have done/am doing this."

Yay! I have been waiting for this for a long time! I thought that it would be shorter somehow, but it's long! Luckily I finished one last night!
I'm on it!

Journal Entry 14 by sarkiegirl from La Quinta, California USA on Saturday, March 13, 2010
I really enjoyed this book. Even though at times, Vanessa's humor could be annoying...but sometimes funny too. I had some time and I decided to count how many changes I have made in my short "greening" lifetime. Sadly, it was only about 80. But, I can't get rid of my car unless I am going to ride my bike to and from work every day. Some are a work in progress. I do want a compost bin, but she scared me when she had to bring it inside the house and the worms escaped. That sounds like something that would happen to me!!!
I wish I knew more about some of the changes, and why they were green (ie smiling at strangers) but I know that if she wrote about all 366 changes, the book would be way too long!

Fun!

I unfortunately think this ring is permanently stalled. The feedback I have received about Ring88 has not been good and he has several rings and a box that he needs to send on. He told me that he would send it along several months ago but obviously that was an empty promise.

It didn't get very far - so sorry. If I come across another copy, I'll continue the ring.

Journal Entry 18 by NancyW1 at Kennesaw, Georgia USA on Wednesday, October 13, 2010
Well, I'm not sure who ring 88 is or if that's the person I got it from, but the book is moving again. I wasn't part of your book ring. I got it from someone named Allen B in Maine on Paperbackswap in August, if that helps.
I got annoyed by her gimmick by Chapter 4.
