Really enjoyed this historical novel. Set in 1928, the book tells of three women who were part of the "Fishing Fleet" who immigrated from the UK to India to find husbands or jobs. The women mature and find adventure as the British Empire wanes in India- I liked that the author didn't belabor the political issues, but used it to give color to the background of the story.

Note: This book already had a little international travel before release. I took it on a trip to Mexico with me!

Am reserving for an upcoming Bookbox.

I enjoyed this book, which looked at how three women tried to find a place for themselves in a world where they were restricted by gender, race, class, and expectations.

I would be interested to read more about how India came under British rule. Thanks for sending this book to me jnpert.
