Inspiring round-the-world bike ride from a spirited former headmistress, at 54 one of the Mary Cooper generation (my magnificent geography lecturer).
Mustoe sees with the eyes of a classicist, and relishes the opportunities for human connection which you lose with more impersonal forms of transport. Its a shame that the politics of 1987 prevented her crossing more of the Middle East
