Possibly a brilliant evocation of childhood - but do I really want to read 282 pages about the cruelties to which ten year old boys subject each other and their siblings? And that's just the children.
In my opinon this novel - if indeed it is a novel - it reads more like an autobiography - would better serve as a study book for child psychologists.
Too painful to be enjoyable.
