Journal Entry 1 by BecFromMD from Washington, District of Columbia USA on Tuesday, June 03, 2003
I love David Sedaris! Ok, so maybe I'm a little late to the party, but that's why I have best friends like Seferim, who acted as my personal shopper while I agonized over how best to spend my Barnes and Noble gift card. :) This is a great book of entertaining essays. I must admit, I skipped "Big Boy" (read the first paragraph and you will understand why--yuck! poop!) but the rest of them were just great. I'm still debating whether I will actually release this into the wild. We'll see.....!

Journal Entry 3 by JollyL from North Vancouver, British Columbia Canada on Saturday, July 05, 2003
Got this today, and I will start it right away! I don't need to PM for the next address, I trade with Tyressia all the time, and she has become a friend! Hmmm. Maybe I should take pity on her, and read slowly, because I know a few of her bookrings showed up on her doorstep this week... Nah! I'll plunge right in! Watch out, Tyressia! LOL!

Journal Entry 5 by Amorae from Ottawa, Ontario Canada on Friday, July 11, 2003

And a huge thank you goes to JollyL, for being so considerate and sending yet ANOTHER bookring book my way! :) I'll read it as quickly as I can, and send it on its way again. I estimate being able to dive into it sometime next week - I'm currently working my way through 5 bookring / ray books which arrived on my doorstep within the last few days. I'll journal again once I've read it. :)

Journal Entry 6 by Amorae from Ottawa, Ontario Canada on Sunday, July 20, 2003

This was my first introduction to Sedaris's writing, and I was pleasantly surprised! I found myself laughing out loud (and I was on a train while reading the book, so it got me some pretty strange looks!). I thought the writing was witty and refreshing, but without being silly. I look forward to reading more of Sedaris's work!

Journal Entry 9 by Deerskin from Aberystwyth, Wales United Kingdom on Sunday, August 10, 2003
Just finished and I very much enjoyed it! I loved David Sedaris knack of writing perfectly ordinary incidents in a way that made them hilariously funny to read. As I was reading another book when this arrived, my sister (who is quite selective about books) also read it and loved it - we',, both be keeping our eyes open for anything else by this author! Thanks to Seferim for organising this! I'll be sending it out to loopy1 in the next couple of days.

Journal Entry 10 by loopy1 from Herne Bay, Kent United Kingdom on Wednesday, August 13, 2003
Well this arrived safely this morning. I've no idea what it's about, but it seems so popular on BC and has had such favourable comments that I just had to be nosy :-) I look forward to reading it and making my comments. Thanks, Deerskin! (and everyone else before me on the list).

This book kept me company on the journey to London and back for a daytime BC meetup, and I kept annoying my son by smiling broadly then not explaining why. I loved the image of the boy with his thesaurus learning new words just to avoid words with an s in! Very funny in places, but on the whole I'm not sure the author and I would get on if we met. How did he have so much time to go the cinema? He seemed to do very little work ;-) This is heading out to the other side of the world now.

This was a fun book to read. The author sure has led an interesting life. I could totally relate to the speech therapy story -- that's just what I had to do in first grade for my lisp. I still sometimes try to avoid those S words ^_^ On its way to lennonchick78 :-)
