Description
From Alex Kava-- the critically acclaimed author of A PERFECT EVIL and SPLIT SECOND--comes the bestselling thriller THE SOUL CATCHER. First time in paperback. FBI profiler Maggie O'Dell is called to the crime scene of a murdered young girl who was assaulted, strangled and left to die near the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C. Her investigation leads Maggie to Reverend Everett, the charismatic leader of a religious group who had held a prayer meeting the night before the murder--a meeting that had attracted many young people, including the victim. Searching for leads with her partner, Tully, Maggie begins to realize that this case may strike close to home--her own mother is involved with Everett, and she may be the key to solving the case.

3rd in the Maggie O'Dell series and not my favourite. I like Kava's writing style and short chapters. I wish Maggie's relationship with Nick was explored more, but it was interesting to see her relationship with her mother more. Still looking forward to the next one in the series.

An okay thriller, but not very special, quite predictable to be honest.
What I liked best and what me kept reading, is reading about Maggie's relationship with her mother and her mother's struggle to stay sober, to belong, to cope with the past.

Definitely a nice surprise - a really enjoyable (if a little predictable) thriller from a new author! I wasn't too keen on the mother-daughter storyline, but otherwise all the different FBI characters were really great. I just might have to look into the series...
