The Lady in the tower is Anne Boleyn. She is imprisoned, looking back and telling the story of her life. What is different about this book is that she is not the self obsessed, coniving crown seeker that she is usually portrayed as. In this book she is virtuous, and at first is horrified by the Kings attraction, doing what she can to push him away. She finally gives in, and decides to use the situation to get as much as she can to secure her future. As we all know, it does not work out well for her.
I really enjoy Jean Plaidy's books as she makes history come alive. The historical content is usually very accurate, and she makes you think about what really was going on inside the heads of those involved in such momental events. Were they the people history makes them out to be?
