Journal Entry 1 by LaPitchoune from Helsinki, Uusimaa Finland on Thursday, June 04, 2009
This is another one of Pratchett's Discworld Novels in the audio book format. It's about a vampire family called the Magpyrs. Personally, I found this text no less than intolerable, so there isn't much for me to say. As a slight comfort, I might add that a part of my personal repulsion was probably inspired by the exaggerated intonations provided by the reader, Tony Robinson. His sudden and loud voice effects startled me as I was trying to knit while listening to this. I really hope this contribution will make some fan of Pratchett's happy, somewhere. I'm taking this to the annual BC meet to the Finnish archipelago. Enjoy.

Journal Entry 2 by potok-fan from Turku, Varsinais-Suomi Finland on Saturday, June 06, 2009
I caught sight of this at the Kesäpäivät book buffet and was pretty excited, but held back thinking somebody else would want it even more than me. But after a while it was still unclaimed and so I grabbed it. I'd been hoping it would make a good activity for our long car trip (coming up in a week's time), but I tried listening to the first cd on my drive home from Nauvo and there's just too much variation in volume for our cheap car speakers (or cheap after-market cd player) to cope with. The conversation between the vampires sounded like the daughter was yelling at the top of her lungs and the dad was muttering down in his boots. Impossible. Too bad. But I'll probably try it out on another player before giving up entirely. ETA: Aha - I just scrolled down and see that LaPitchoune had a similar problem. That's both reassuring and disappointing. Fun to "meet" you at Kesäpäivät, LaP, and thanks for releasing this audiobook.

I'm putting this into a "Virtual Book Box" on bookobsessed.com. If you're interested please notice that both previous readers were disappointed with volume problems with this. But maybe it'll work better for you. nb. These are cds, not cassettes.

I put this into a virtual book box on bookobsessed.com, and hyper7 picked it out. It took a while to sort out hyper's address, but I finally got this addressed and into the mail today. I hope it works better for you than it did for us! :)
