Summary (from the back cover)
The Devil may wear Prada, but real fashion taste is in the blood…
When Kate is offered an internship at a top fashion mag Tasty, everyone tells her she’s the luckiest girl alive. But Kate’s not so sure. Her fellow interns are bitchy, her superiors are backstabbing, and she’s constantly getting it in the neck from her boss.
Then people start to go missing, and Kate starts to really worry. Why is everyone condescending, black clad and emaciated? Doesn’t anyone sleep? What’s with the sharp teeth? Are they…vampires?
Armed with a stake, a crucifix, and James the cute photo assistant, Kate sets off for a showdown – only to realise that she’s more out of her depth than a homeless person in Hermès. Starting your first job may be difficult, but working at Tasty is draining. Literally…

This wasn't a work of genius - a bit silly, a bit simplistic, both hubby and I guessed pretty much every single plot "twist" before they happened - but a good bit of fun. If you like your MaryJanice Davidson vampires, I think you'd love this one...
AmberC is getting this next! Enjoy!

Selecting from emmejo's Vampire bookbox.
We are finished with this one so adding it to Emmejo's Otherworldly Bookbox.
This book rode to the end of the Otherworldly Book box.
I have been trying to read this over the last couple days, but am giving up. I just can't get into it. I don't care for the writing style, and the fashion aspect feels a bit dated. I liked the concept, and enjoyed some of the characters, but not enough to keep plugging away.
Hopefully the next reader will be more appreciative!

One of the starter books for the Vampire Bookbox
I'm claiming this well-traveled book from the Vampire bookbox.
Later: Quick, breezy read here, just as silly as I'd expected {wry grin}, but not without its entertaining bits. The opening line tickled me very much: "I'm crouched under a desk in the assistants' bullpen." Nice to start the book in media res, with our heroine hiding from the vampires - under a desk!
I actually thought that the idea of having the famously-fashionable vampires in charge of a fashion empire was a good one - though as they do seem to have many of the traditional weaknesses, it presents some logistical problems now and then. That aspect of things could have been taken farther, but this wasn't really that kind of book.
I did enjoy the big ending, with jewel-handled stakes and all: "Regular staff purges make a magazine stronger!"

I left this book on a bench outside the Great Road Kitchen, while stopping by for some oysters on the half shell. Hope the finder enjoys the book!
