The Brethren

Added to a wrap it up bookbox
Chosen from MarysZee (Round 3) Wrap It Up book box based on the first line of the book. I can't wait to read it, and want to thank whoever placed it in the box..again, thanks!
Took me quite some time to pick it up and read it, but glad I finally did.
This novel combines criminals (incarcerated judges Yarber, Beech, and Spicer calling themselves the Brethren) and politics (particularly men who manipulate elections for their own agenda like Teddy of the CIA). Add in a candidate who appears to be squeaky clean and the perfect man for the job of becoming the next President, and what the reader gets is a suspenseful thriller that doesn't quit.
Plenty of behind the scenes machinations keep the action moving, and there are plenty of twists and turns, too.
Who will win? Who will lose? Who will outsmart the other?
With millions of dollars in this story changing hands during the primaries and subsequent campaign, it seems prescient of this year's upcoming election, which seems scary to this reader.

In memory of Oppen's birthday (if a bit belated), this book is being released. To the finder, enjoy the book. To the book, happy and safe travels and may you find a new reader. Left in the gazebo at the park.
