Palahniuk is very hit and miss....he can write somethig like Choke that just makes me want use as an example of how NOT to write....or he can write this one that I find a tortured, nilhistic stream of conciousness masterpiece! It's just EVERYTHING. A stark, depressing view on socity, beauty, ugliness and the roles that socity thursts upon us. It's a story about mistakes, and making even worse misktakes in attempt to correct them...to find the true person you are deep inside, past all the flaws and dysfuntions. It's a story about the love of a brother and sister....and a story about ALOT of transexuals. It's definatly not a book for the faint of heart, or someone squemish about trans-gendered issues/lifestyle. This is his masterpiece.

How the bookray works:
* Someone will PM you for your address, PM them back and provide your address.
* When you receive the book, please make a journal entry letting everyone know that you received it .
* Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (under other rings/rays that arrived first) .
* Read the book (take your time and enjoy the book, don't feel rushed to finish it but try to get it out to next reader within two - four weeks) .
* When the end is in sight, check the book's journal and PM the next person to get their address .
* Finish the book, make another journal entry and let everyone know what you thought of the book .
* Send the book to the next person on the list (please use the cheapest shipping method available), make release notes (Controlled Release) to let everyone know that it's in the mail.
* The last person on the list gets to keep the book, or release it however they see fit! :)

Received today via my trusty office courier and friend, Dana. Thanks Dana! Thanks also to lidlekiwi for sending this book on and stuffing it full of useful bits and bobs - cheers! I am off work at the mo and am laid up in the house so plenty of reading time for me, therefore this book will be read pretty quickly and off travelling again soon.

Jumping to and fro, with the narrator Shannon McFarland, was an experience... The story is dark, insane, grotesque, nauseating, funny - and even thought-provoking in its provocativeness.

Before this, I had read only Survivor by Palahniuk, and certainly it was an original piece of literature, but I liked Invisible Monsters even more.

Thank you for sharing, shothisdhampir!
The book is left in the post office and ready for air travel, but the flights from Finland are cancelled for the moment, as the ash continues to pour into the atmosphere from the volcano in Iceland.

Received it 10 mins ago! Can't wait to read it. Thanks for passing it on, Ruzena. Will get started once I finish the current book I'm reading; only 2 chapters to go :P

Journal Entry 13 by tohweiee from Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia on Tuesday, May 11, 2010
I finished it at the weekend. I liked how the story unfolded, lots of unexpected twists, but I had to get through half the book before anything started making sense to me. Perhaps it's because I'm a newbie to Palahniuk's work (this is my first!) but it was a little too dark and morbid for me. I can't help but wonder if I might have enjoyed this book a lot more had I started with something milder like Fight Club and had had time to slowly warm up to his style.

It will be sent to keeta1 this weekend.

A very strange, but compelling story!
It was a bit dark and morbid, but also had some bits that made me laugh.
Thanks for sharing sothisdhampir.
PMing the next in line now.
