My sister Helen gave me this book from a batch she was clearing out from being stored under my spare bed. Now a major film apparently, a novel about five entrancing sisters told through the memories of the adolescent boys who adored them.
A slightly bizarre story about 5 sisters who all commit suicide written from the perspective of a group of local boys who watched from afar. Some of the book goes into the difficulty of telling the sisters apart and I think that was the most frustrating bit - I kept dipping back to the page where the ages were given to remind myself whether the girl in question was the youngest, oldest or somewhere in between, but I guess that ambiguity is part of the tale.

Determined as I am to work through my TBR backlog (particularly those passed on by tashclayton) this one got the holiday poolside thumbs up. I've not seen the film to this, so despite the title being a bit of a hint, I wasn't sure what to expect. The auther doesn't leave you waiting long though as it plunges straight in - at this early stage its difficult to see what the rest of the book will be about as we already know the outcome. Narrated by local boys intrigued by these 5 sisters, I'll give away one hint - they are certainly not all virgins!
