Described as a science fiction novel about a telepath called Doro who is building a new race across time and space and his daughter Mary who draws them together. Mary tries to build a pattern and the prospect of an empire. Doro, the telepath who has moved in and out of host bodies and who was her Father, lover and rival stands against all that Mary is striving for.
