Very well written. I bought this book years ago from a cheap book shop. It is written in a very precise manner, with a lot of influence from Victorian novels. I found it highly enjoyable.

Well, I wasn't expecting much from this, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's very well written, with splashes of dry wit throughout, and a host of self-centred characters. I did find the pace of the novel a little jarring at times, but other than that, this was a very enjoyable read.

Not really sure what to make of this one. I often enjoy novels which include no characters I can relate to, or empathise with, but this really took that concept a little too far. I really had no connection with any of the lazily rich, insanely driven or bitterly downtrodden characters on display here. I'll confess that it is a well-written book. At times, the characters are remarkably well realised. Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much of a point to this book. It meanders along, without really saying anything, and therefore it failed to really engage me. Frustrating.
