A second copy of the book. "A story of love, friendship and memory." Absolutely one of the best books I've read for a long time (and this is the second time I've read it).Chilling but also sad and beautiful.
Got the book from aava at our local meeting today. Thanks! Looking forward to reading this.
I liked the book a lot, even though I would have liked to learn more about the donor/carer thing and the whole system behind it (won't go to any details here for not to spoil next readers' experience). I didn't like the characters much: Ruth was really annoying, Tommy not very bright and Kathy somehow distant. Anyhow, the book was really intresting, I just didn't want to stop reading once I started. I also loved the author's style - it is very enjoyable and easy to read but also very beautiful.
For some reason I also liked the book itself, as an object: it is perfect size and weight, and the paper feels nice to my fingers. Some books just have better feel than others. :)

I finally read this after noticing that it has been made into a movie. Always must read the book before watching the movie :P
I didn't know what to expect - I didn't remember anything besides that this book had something to do with students of some priveleged school. It was far more interesting than that!
Like Tintti, I loved the author's style. It was beautiful and enjoyable to read. I liked the way Kathy reminisced her story, like telling it to someone. I would have also be interested to hear more about the donor system, but I think the book worked very fine the way it is, gradually showing some things but leaving a lot the shadows too. By telling more about the donor system this story could have been made into a moralizing book pondering ethical questions, but now it was a sad and beautiful story about Kathy's and her friends life and place in the world. I keep thinking this story even after finishing it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
This book is on its way to Nakipa in Portugal via the wishlist tag-game! I hope you'll enjoy the book:)
It arrived today. Thank you for tagging me, my tbr is amazingly growing but I think I'll have to read this one very soon. :D
The writing is simple but beautiful. The story seems so real in spite of it's unreality. And I wish I could have continued the story even after it was finished, to see for how long the world could carry on letting something so terrible happen in their own backyards.

As I've said before, I had already watched the movie. I taught it was going to spoil the book for me but I didn't, even thought I already knew the story I discovered a lot of new things, the book is more human than the movie. I also liked not knowing very much about the donor system, Kathy tells the story as you are already know about it, as you are a part of it. Like Tintti I din't like the characters very much but I think is what's special about the book, you don't like them, you don't think like them but you feel identified with them.
