"Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In more than ten years on the force, she's seen it all -- and knows that her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire -- and a suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about -- except the addictive hunger of needing his touch."
I am baby-sitting this book for discoverylover who received it a few hours before she caught her plane to the USA where she will be working in a Summer Camp. Lucky adventure for her. It came accompanied with another book that was small enough so she could read that in bed in the evening before she leaves, and she asked me to save this specially wished-for book for her until she returns, and to advise hakkalina, of course. I'll guard it carefully as asked but, of course, being a real fan of JD Robb, I just had to read it myself.
So, in less than 36 hours I have read and loved it. Am certainly hungering for more.
I've read other books in this series and was familiar with Eve Dallas and Roarke. What interesting characters, and what exciting lives they both lead. When I read my first JD Robb it took quite a while for me to realise that they are set in 2058. The exciting technological advances that the author has imagined for half a century out are very imaginative and yet acceptably possible.
It has been specially interesting to read this one which introduces Roarke. What a man! and, yes, it is a steamy relationship but so rewarding. Loved it.

Discoverylover is back from her US jaunt so I was able to hand her the book in person. We were meeting with Christchurch BXer FutureCat visiting for the weekend. She'd expressed a wish to meet at Martha's Pantry where we have an OBCZ. EdwardStreet and Fee19 also joined us as representatives of Wellington BXers.

Sorry for taking so long to journal this! I've actually already read it now, and released it at the meetup tonight - and only thanks to a desperate phone call to Sherlockfan have I got the BCID to journal it!
I really enjoyed reading something at the beginning of this series - and was really glad to read the beginning of Roarke and Eve! Now I'm hankering for some more!

Picked up at a BC Meet in Wellington on 10 Nov 2009.
Really enjoyed the murder mystery and the author's take on what the world might be like in 2058. I will definitely look out for more J D Robb.
Will take to BC Meet on 1 December 2009.
