Received today (Wednesday, June 10, 2009) as a RABCK from pjlareau. He was kind enough fulfill my #1 Wish List wish!
Samwise Gamgee is my favorite character in the Lord of the Rings series. I've been a fan of Sean Astin since the movie Rudy. (Sorry children-of-the-80s, I just wasn't that into Goonies.)
Like every true LOTR geek, I loved hearing the stories on the commentary track of the DVDs. Now I get even more of the story.
When I'm done, I think I'm going to hand this book over to a fellow geek, Shannon. I hope to introduce her to the joys of BookCrossing.

Not AS focused on LOTR as I thought it would be. I appreciated all of the insight he gave into the way Hollywood works and how big of an influence his family has on his life. I am very pleased he spent some time talking about his experience on Rudy, but I did wish for a little more about Toy Soldiers! :)
Reading in between the lines Sean Astin seems a lot like my ex. A man who really knows what he wants but is kind of an asshole about getting it and feels under-appreciated during the whole process. It seemed like I actually KNEW Sean, and that's not a bad thing.
I hope to pass this on to a fellow LOTR fan and then on to an actor friend.
