From the back of the book:

" When it was published in 1943, 'The Fountainhead', Ayn Rand's daringly original literary vision and her groundbreaking philosophy, Objectivism, won immediate worldwide interest and acclaim. This instant classic is the story of intransigent young architect, his violent battle against conventional standards, and his explosive love affair with a beautiful woman who struggles to defeat him. As fresh today as it was then, here is a novel about a hero-- and about those who try to destory him."

Synopsis:

"Ayn Rand's controversial novel, tells the story of the desperate battle waged by architect Howard Roark, whoe integrity was as unyielding as granite... of Dominiquie Francon, the exquisitely beautiful woman who loved Roark passionately, but married his worst enemy...of the fanatic denunciation unleased by an enraged society against a great creator."

I never thought that a book about philosophy and architecture would become one of my all-time favorites . Powerful characters, powerful language, powerful plotline--a book of great strength and conviction.
