4/26/09 - I read this book for the movie/book combo that my sister and I are doing. But there isn't a movie for this book after all.

I received this book in the mail on 5/4 from my sister, peggypenguin in IN to release for her.

c. 1977 -- 128 pages -- Paperback

Back Cover: Why Cruel Shoes? Because Steve Martin, that wild and crazy guy, had already written everything but a book. Why the #1 Bestseller? Because people who watch Steve Martin think they're really interested in his views about "Women Without Bones." They think they want to know "How to Fold Soup" and "What to Say When the Ducks Show Up." Because deep down inside they know it's one of the "Thing Not to Do."

Why read it? Because says The Washington Post, "Martin's humor ... turns on an acute sense of the absurd." Because you'll find, after reading just a bit, you'll say, as Malcolm Forbes of Forbes magazine, said, "I cracked up!" Because the expert on Cruel Shoes, Steve Martin, says, "Personally, I think it's the greatest book ever written."

Four years and one move of cities later I finally read this! It's a quick read, a collection of short - very short - stories. Some I loved but several didn't really do it for me - for the latter it's possible I didn't get what he was going for. The ones I loved I really loved.
