Le Morte D'Arthur

This is technically my brother's. I have been trying to listen to it while exercising with absolutely no success! The language is difficult enough - or at least, unusual enough - that I have to fully pay attention if I want to understand what is happening, and when I'm doing crunches or lifting weights that just doesn't happen. I think I'll definitely want to read the book at a later time, but as an audio book, in the purpose I'm trying to use it, this just doesn't work.

The legends of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table have inspired some of the greatest works of literature--from Cervantes's Don Quixote to Tennyson's Idylls of the King. Although many versions exist, Malory's stands as the classic rendition. Malory wrote the book while in Newgate Prison during the last three years of his life; it was published some fourteen years later, in 1485, by William Caxton. The tales, steeped in the magic of Merlin, the powerful cords of the chivalric code, and the age-old dramas of love and death, resound across the centuries.

Returned by my sister.
I listened to Le Morte D'Arthur because I was fascinated with the Arthur legend from The Mists of Avalon.
Le Morte D'Arthur is the definitive version of Malory's poem tale of The Life and Death of King Arthur. Easy listening it is not. Jacobi's performance is an excellent interpreter of the Arthurian legend.
Le Morte D'Arthur is unmodernized, beautiful classical Arthurian poetry and you may enjoy it without really understanding what just happened in the last scene.

Packing up today to get ready to ship out tomorrow to spend the first part of the New Year in Michigan. Holiday Blessings to all, and best wishes for a Bright and Shiny New Year!

This was difficult in places to follow. I think I might have followed the book more.

Enjoy! KTM RABCK to book drunkard
I listened to this whilst spending the day in the kitchen preserving food from the garden. Stringing green beans and making pickles doesn't require much attention so I was able to focus on this tale of King Arthur and his knights of the table round.
I didn't really care for it as it is very repetitive and just seemed like it was going to drone on and on forever. Glad this is the abridged version as I can't even imagine listening to it any longer than I did.

Picking this one out of book_drunkard’s This n’ That Bookbox. I will give this a go. Sounds like one I will have to listen to without distractions.
I gave this a good listen. A bit difficult due to the somewhat older style of English but I did like the story and the narrator. I would say, because of him, I stuck by this classic tale. I envisioned myself sitting around, listening to a medievel storyteller. I don't know if I would enjoy reading this book as opposed to this audiobook version. I think, if I were to try and read it, I would end up quitting and putting it on the shelf next my college English class copy of Beowulf. You definately have to be in the mood to pay close attention.
Releasing this audiobook into HI77’s Audiobook Box. Happy Travels!

Nice to see that this audiobook has been around for so long and pass through so many BCers that I know. A virtual hand wave to all of you!
Reading the journals, I feel rather brave in taking out this CD and attempting to listen to it. Let's see if I'll manage!!
