A very funny book.
Because the author's point of view and way of life is so extreme, it's hilarious. I especially liked the occassional mention of his wife and her more moderate (in his view: weak) opinion.

Got from Microsquid today.
This one also looks so delicious so will take some self discipline to finish first the 2 ones I'm reading now...

Enjoyable, in small doses. Between work or study but not too much at a time to not get an overdose.
Makes a perfect toilet read (even when it wasn't printed on rice paper with soy ink), in the non-water toilet while thinking about the lentil loafs...
Helpful in planning the life (is it ethical..? you think?) and helps you even calculate your own carbon skidmark. Mmm...

Found it too over-the-top to be funny... as someone who honestly cares about my carbon skidmark I'd hoped to get some handy tips but apparently we're all doomed in any case...

I got this today from aetm at the local bookcrossers' meet-up with her. Nice to have Irish visitors. :-) And thanks for this book, it looks like a lot of fun, which of course is why I asked for it in the first place. :-)

Seems like I pretty much completely misunderstood this book on basis of the covers alone, although actually reading it, it didn't take me long to catch on. What I caught on to, of course, was that even though some people out there seem to mistake Ethan Greenhart for a real person, E. G. is actually a fictional columnist created by Brendan O'Neill, and the point is to poke fun at environmentalists.

I work in the field of environmental science myself (emphasis on science; I'm well versed in natural sciences, and I perform and publish lab experiments) and I have no time for eco-babbling nutcases, but the joke still got old pretty quickly, particularly since I felt the writer was taking some actual and serious environmental problems far too lightly (of course, E. G. was simply being a nutcase about them, but since E. G. is a fictional character that's rather beside the point). All in all, I read about a third of the book, skimmed through the rest, and am quite ready to part with all of it.

This book was very annoying but I liked it anyway. I'll take the book to the local meeting tonight and hopefully someone else takes it with her.

Not sure what to think of this book... It was mostly annoying and I didn't really find this funny. I think it had some good points that were sort of spoilt by the obnoxious "writer".
