Journal Entry 4 by Caterinaanna at Coventry, West Midlands United Kingdom on Thursday, January 27, 2011
Snuck this out of the bookbox to read while waiting for the address of the next person. I was often referred to as a Miss Jean Brodie during my days as a spinster teacher, but I hope I'm not as manipulative, and I don't think I 'm ever as frustrated in spite of the dictates of the National Curriculum. She may have a reputation for being wicked and scheming, but to me she is just lonely, in spite of the companionship of her set and her relationships with her colleagues. The quirky, slightly repetitive style, with it's little aides-memoires for each of the girls, was a little distracting until one became used to it and then became part of the humour and something that makes this an excellent book for reading aloud. Now I just need to find someone who will let me read them a bedtime story every night for a week. what was I saying about not being lonely? ;o)
