First published in 1998 by Jonathan Cape. Vintage, London, 1999. Paperback, 178 pages. Cover image: AKG London. Winner of the 1998 Booker Prize It’s almost 10 years since I’ve read Amsterdam and I still remember how much I liked it. In fact, in my reading diary I’ve marked it with a red exclamation mark to show what a deep impact it had on me. I don’t often make those marks. In my reading diary I call Amsterdam ‘a story about holding grudge, judging, egoism, etc.’ It really is a story worth reading. The 1998 Booker Prize was well-earned. This copy will be travelling soon. I wish the next reader as great reading experience as I had. Enjoy! Brilliant book! It was so versatile story really; beautiful text about music and making music, lot of emotions and motives, morality and loyalty - and at the end, cruelty. So well written that it kept me on the hook from the very beginning until the last word.
