Got this book from a friend who was clearing her bookshelves:)

This is from the bookcover:
In the summer of 1953, two eleven-year-old boys are playing in a Little League baseball game in Gravesend. One of the boys, Owen Meany, hits a foul ball and kills his best friend´s mother. Owen dosen´t believe in accidents, he believes he is God´s instrument. What happens to Owen after that 1953 foul is extraordinary and terrifying.

I enjoyed this book. It was pretty slow going at first. There was too much (for my liking) about different denominations of the church (Episcopalians, Congregationalists and Catholics mostly) and I found that a bit boring at times. However, it does get more interesting as it goes along, and it builds up to a big climax where everything falls into place.
