A collection of short stories, some quite nice, others just ... I especially did like: "The Wood Shed", "Old-Fashioned solutions" and "Ginger Tart".

hmm, more of the spiral, but this doesn't look like the ones I prefer. Hopefully it's not too "Penny Birch" - so not my thing. We shall see.

The spiral continues. Interesting variety in the setting of the stories, general theme (obvious from the title) so not my thing it's getting really boring. One more in this shipment to read and then these three will be off to Athens.

The spanking element is way too repetitive by now, but there are several stories here that stand out in other ways.
Charlie in Damsel in Distress is a particularly fascinating character. Her obsession is extreme, but the psychological high she gets from it is refreshingly original.
Bursting is probably the first water sports story so far that is worth reading.
I was hoping to read something different in the two stories set in the future (The Improvement Session and Preventive Measures) but they turned out to be rather quotidian.
The Dinner Party I appreciated most, out of the collection.
