"This is the story of an American woman's journey into what for her was an unknown world, the lives of the women of India." That's the opening sentence of this book, and describes it well. Ms. Bumiller's journalist training helps her delve into a broad spectrum of cultural and political issues.

I got this book at a library sale a couple of years ago. I'm sending it to mom3xlovesbooks as part of the RMTBRBB exchange. I apologize that it's a bit yellowed & musty - it came to me that way but I enjoyed it enough to feel it's worth passing on.
