This was the only science fiction book on the "leave a book, take a book" shelf in my hotel in Cancun last year. I picked it up because I loved Anne McCaffery's books as a young adult. This time I found I wasn't in the mood for brain candy, so I only read the first 75 pages or so.
Even before I started reading, I was annoyed by the "Space Queen Barbie" cover. Maybe as a young person I liked McCaffery's epic themes and simplistic characters painted in broad washes of good and evil, but now I prefer my characters and morals a bit more nuanced and complex.

I left it on a big rock just outside the store.
