'After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, one solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue pacific. The only survivors from the wreck are a sixteen-year-old boy named Pi, a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan...and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger.'

Book has arrived safe and well, I look forward to reading it xx

19 July 09 Finished the book yesterday. I was bit concerned in the first few chapters when it was getting quite religious but found myself getting more and more into it. At times I laughed out loud and other times was cringing but overall I really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend it and will be putting it on my read again list.

Received safe and sound today. Thank you so much for sending this to me! It was a lovely surprise to be contacted about a book on my wish list. I've been hoping to read this story for a long time. I'll bump it to the top of my TBRs so that it can continue on its travels as soon as possible.

Thanks again!

This book is going down as one of my favourites. I found the first part of the book more like a lecture on theology and zoology than an actual story and kept thinking "Why do I need to know all this?", but the second part of the book was thoroughly gripping and all the little snippets of information I'd gleaned from the first part fell into place. Once I got into it, I found it a hard book to put down. The writing is vivid and detailed and appealed to my cinematic imagination. I was left thinking "Could I have survived in that situation? Could I have done what Pi did?" Even though the story is fantastical it still seemed real. I liked the way the "Author's notes" framed Pi's story and made him feel all the more real. Even though it's a pretty gruesome tale at times, there were notes of humour that had me chuckling. A great book!

Posted to nediamnori87 as a RABCK. Enjoy! :)

I did quite enjoy this book. The first bit was a bit tedious and you did wonder where it was leading. But once the second part began I couldn't put the book down. I found it really interesting and very well written. The end was a bit of an anti climax and would have liked a bit more information than was given. But still overall a really well written book and very enjoyable.

Please read this book within 6 weeks.

It seems like people either love this book or hate it. I love it. It took a while to get into the story, not because I thought it was boring, but because I couldn't imagine where it would lead. After a while I had a hard time putting the book down and I read the last 150 pages in one sitting. (That's why I am writing this JE at almost 4am... thank goodness it's the weekend!)
I remember seeing the book in bookstores about 5 years ago. I picked it up a couple of times but the story always seemed too strange for me so I didn't want to buy it. I have never read a book like this and I am glad I got to read it.

WOW!!! I LOVED this book!! I had the same thoughts as Glitterbee as I was going to read this book several times with it in my hand and put the book back on the shelf as I did not think I would like this story. I do not usually do that as I read almost any type of book. That was such a mistake and am so very glad I decided to give this book a try. Some areas of the book are a little graphic(glad I'm a nurse!) but nothing that anyone could not handle as it so much relates to the storyline. Pi's tale of man, beast and God coming together was extraordinary!

Journal Entry 20 by abigailann at Abingdon, Oxfordshire United Kingdom on Wednesday, November 24, 2010

A fascinating and intriguing book. Thde author manages to make a totally unbelievable concept believable somehow and takes you on an adventure at the same time. As others have said, the first part was slightly tedious, but the second part more than made up for it. And the third part was a fitting ending. I look foward to passing this onto someone else who is interested in it.
